While we are busy transporting our clients in class, we offer a unique local perspective on the beauty and originality of the great city of Chicago.  If you’ve ever visited our amazing city, you know how overwhelming it can be and how easy it is to fall into all the tourist traps.  Transport Limousine would like to let you in on the secret gems locals frequent and tourists need to know about.  Chicago native, Dan Falato, Producer of “The Artie Lange Show” shared some of his favorite spots.  From Hot Dog joints to Steak Houses to Pubs, here are a few of the best places to start….

Girl & the Goat
Sitting grittily in the West Loop smack dab in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor, their vegetable, fish and meat concoctions are as unique as they are delicious.  There is a comfortable lounge, bar seating and standard tables offering fun foods, craft beers and homemade wine in a rustic environment.

The Purple Pig
Located on the Magnificent Mile and run by four renowned local chefs, this eatery features housemade charcuterie, cheeses and classic Mediterranean fare plus a wonderful wine list.  Hmmm a slow roasted ham, scamorza cheese, pickled portobello and sun-dried tomato panini?  I’m there!

Hot Doug’s (on north side)
Hot Dog anyone?  These “encased meats” go beyond your standard hot dogs.  The gourmet options of hot dogs, chicken/pork/lamb sausage will make your mouth water.  There are nearly 10 specials every day so we’re sure you’ll sink your teeth into the right one.  Hop down to 3324 North California and enjoy a local Chicago treasure.

Hopleaf
Hopleaf bar on Clark St. is where it’s at.  This “adults only” tavern has one of the biggest beer selections you’ve ever seen, wine and spirits and fine food like Belgian-style mussels and Duck Reuben Sandwiches.  Head uptown to nosh on some pomme frites with garlic mayo and wash it down with a normally hard-to-find Belgian beer.

Heaven on Seven
One word – GUMBO!  This is hands down Chicago’s premiere location for authentic Cajun cuisine.  Run by acclaimed chef Jimmy Bannos (also owns the Purple Pig mentioned above), Heaven on Seven is a highly personalized interpretation of New Orleans and Southern cooking.  You don’t want to miss this one!

The Wiener’s Circle
Also located on Clark, this legendary hotdog stand keeps it simple boasting signature Chicago-style hot dogs, hamburgers and cheese fries.  I’m sure you’ve heard a story or two about this Lincoln Park neighborhood no-frills restaurant.  Since it’s sometimes open as late as 5am, it draws an interesting amount of attention – there’s even a fan site dedicated to it http://www.wienercircle.net/about/
